Letter: Writer displays privilege in discussing voter ID

What incredible privilege the writer from Akron displays in his letter in Feb. 11 Everybody’s Column, supporting voter ID. “You need ID to drive a car, hunt or fish, purchase alcohol, or withdraw money from your bank.” That is true, but I can guarantee there are plenty of people in the inner City of Buffalo who do none of those, and who would find it onerous to obtain acceptable ID. The writer lives in Akron, which is 97 percent white, according to Wikipedia, as admittedly is my hometown, but I do not assume that all people have the advantages I do. The most telling way to see if you benefit from white privilege is to deny it exists.
