The City of Buffalo on Tuesday picked SUNY Buffalo State as its designated developer for an "unsightly" auto impound.
The site is located at 170 Dart St., next to the college, city officials said.
The college has 18 months to form plans for the land while it pays the city $1,000 a month, which will be applied to the purchase. The city will keep the money if the school does not develop the site, said Darius G. Pridgen, president of the Common Council, which approved the designation.
The city intends to sell the land at its appraised value, but the appraisal has not been done, said Brendan Mehaffy, executive director of Buffalo's Office of Strategic Planning.
A request for proposals will be issued for relocating the auto impound.
"It's that unsightly auto impound on the 198 that we are looking to move from there," Mehaffy said.
