Buffalo Abrasives sold to Indian firm

Buffalo Abrasives, a North Tonawanda company that makes resin bonded grinding wheels, has been acquired by an Indian company, Sak Abrasives.

The fourth-generation company expects to continue manufacturing at its facility at 960 Erie Ave. "We can continue to have a significant manufacturing presence in North Tonawanda, where it all began," said Jeff Binkley, Buffalo Abrasives' CEO.

Sak Abrasives, a division of Sak Industries Private Ltd., makes a wide range of industrial abrasives for the Indian and overseas markets. Buffalo Abrasives is mainly focused on customers within the oil and gas, automotive, steel and other industries in North America.

"There is considerable value in a 'Made in USA' brand and our vision is to allow our customers across the globe the choice of products manufactured in different geographies with varying price/quality," said Kanika Krishna, Sak Abrasives' chief operating officer, in a statement. "We now have a 'Made in India' and 'Made in USA' option in our product offering."
