Hamburg incumbents challenging endorsed candidates

Hamburg Republicans snubbed the two incumbents when making endorsements for Town Board.

The committee endorsed Daniel N. Celani and Amy McKnight, a Conservative, for two seats on the board.

Councilmen Michael Mosey and Tom Best Jr. did not get endorsed, and they said they will be mounting a primary challenge to the endorsed candidates for their re-election. The two councilmen are running together and said they will do what is best for the community "regardless of political affiliation or political pressure."

Best, who changed his political affiliation from Conservative to Democrat in 2014 and was elected under the Democratic banner four years ago, changed his affiliation from Democrat to Republican last year.

The GOP committee also endorsed Town Justice Carl Morgan, a Conservative, for reelection.
