Niagara Falls police stop woman's crime spree with arrest

A Niagara Falls woman liked grocery shopping so much, she occasionally did it more than once in the same day. But, according to Niagara Falls Police, she did not like to pay for her purchases.

Police said Candace Greer, 35, of 81st Street, took away nearly $300 in merchandise during seven visits to Walmart on Military Road between Jan. 4 and 12.

The first three times, police said, Greer went through the store’s self-checkout lines and did not scan items worth $169. After that, she allegedly switched price tags to 23 cents apiece and paid about $6 for $129 worth of goods.

Greer eventually was caught after a review of store surveillance videos. She now faces seven counts of petit larceny.
