The seeds have been planted for the Section VI girls basketball playoffs.
Frontier earned the No. 1 seed in the Class AA bracket. The other top seeds are Grand Island (A-1), Lake Shore (A-2), City Honors (B-1), Eden (B-2), Portville (C-1), Maple Grove (C-2) and Panama (D).
Sectional play starts with prequarterfinal matchups on Tuesday. Finals are scheduled for March 2 (C-1, C-2, D) at Jamestown Community College, March 3 at Buffalo State (A-2, A-1, B-2, B-1), March 5 at JCC (C crossover) and March 6 at Buff State (AA, A, B crossovers).
There were three seeding tiebreakers determined by blind draw Saturday morning. In Class AA, Jamestown will be the No. 5 seed ahead of Clarence. Hamburg won the tiebreaker over Williamsville East for the No. 4 seed in A-1. Albion is seeded sixth in B-1 above Medina.
Seven teams opted out of sectionals: Barker, DaVinci, East, I-Prep, Lackawanna, Riverside and South Park.
Defending sectional champions are Orchard Park (AA), Williamsville South (A), Amherst (A-2), Fredonia (B), Southwestern (B-2), Allegany/Limestone (C) and Franklinville (D).
