Heads up: Tickets on sale Friday for seven big Buffalo-area concerts

It's been a busy week for Darien Lake concert announcements, with three major bookings unveiled over the last few days. Tickets for these go on sale Friday, at either 10 a.m. or noon (details below), alongside The Chainsmokers in KeyBank Center and three small-yet-buzzy gigs slated for smaller Buffalo venues.

Heart with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts

Who: Surprise! Heart was on hiatus for roughly two years before announcing a reunion for the Love Alive Tour that stops in Darien. Ann and Nancy Wilson, the two sisters at the heart of Heart, which has spanned five decades and delivered 16 studio albums. Joan Jett, a contemporary of Heart, is a fitting co-headliner.

Beck and Cage the Elephant

Who: Through playing the regal Albright-Knox Art Gallery and then New Era Field as an opener for U2, Beck has starred in relatively non-traditional music venues in recent years. Summer 2019 will see Beck, supported by established garage-rockers Cage the Elephant, take on Darien Lake. Eclectic Beck's "Colors," released in 2017, is his most recent work, while 1996's "Odelay" is considered his breakthrough album.

Chris Young

Who: Tennessee native Chris Young is in an exciting time musically, as the 33-year-old just unveiled single "Raised on Country," a major track for his forthcoming album. His Darien Lake show is included in the Country Megaticket, a five-show package announced last month.

Event details: 7 p.m. May 24 at Darien Lake Amphitheatre (9993 Allegheny Road, Darien). Support from Chris Janson and Dylan Scott.

Tickets: Prices range from $38.50-$88.25 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Feb. 15 at, or by calling (800) 745-3000. These refer to individual tickets, as the show is part of the 2019 Country Megaticket package, too.


The Chainsmokers

Who: Elite beat-makers the Chainsmokers will drop by KeyBank Center with 5 Seconds of Summer, whom they just collaborated with on radio hit "Who Do You Love?". Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart are kings of the joint effort, working with rising singers such as Kelsea Ballerini, Halsey and Daya for catchy, dance-able tracks.

Event details: 7 p.m. Oct. 12 in KeyBank Center. Support from 5 Seconds of Summer and Lennon Stella.

Who: The Detroit horrorcore rap duo has been in action for more than 20 years, with newest album "Generation Nightmare" set for release in April. A few tracks will certainly be played live at the Mohawk Place show in March.

Event details: 7 p.m. March 28 in Mohawk Place (47 E. Mohawk St.).

Twin Peaks

Who: Chicago garage-rock band Twin Peaks released one single each month in 2017 to eventually form "Sweet '17 Singles," a compilation disc that's been in circulation for a year now. Hear a sample from the band in Mac McGuire's concert announcement.

Event details: 7 p.m. May 1 in Rec Room (79 W. Chippewa St.). Support from Post Animal.

Car Seat Headrest

Who: The project of Will Toledo has caught fire after his second full-length, "Teens of Denial," set the indie world ablaze in 2016. Rolling Stone wrote in great detail on Car Seat Headrest's "Twin Fantasy," digging deeper into the concept album with insight from Toledo.

Event details: 8 p.m. June 25 in Asbury Hall in Babeville (341 Delaware Ave.). Support from Naked Giants.
