Bandits hope to keep winning

The Buffalo Bandits will kick off the second half of the 2018-2019 season in friendly territory when the Calgary Roughnecks visit the KeyBank Center tonight for a 7:30 game.

At 7-2, the Bandits are tied for first place in the Eastern Division with the Toronto Rock, who defeated Buffalo earlier this season. They’ll be looking for their fourth win in a row and their sixth in seven games.

Buffalo’s offense has been unmatched so far this season; in only nine games, the Bandits have tallied 134 goals. Georgia – the runner-up in scoring – has 120 goals in 10 games.

Corey Small and Thomas Hoggarth have driven the Buffalo scoring machine. Small leads the team with 22 scores, while Hoggarth is not far behind with 21. The duo combined for eight goals in Buffalo’s 19-9 win over Georgia on Feb. 9.

Sean Evans leads the team with 61 points – 19 goals and 42 assists. He, Small and Hoggarth each notched a hat trick against the Swarm, the first time since 2005 that Buffalo has recorded three hat tricks in three consecutive games.

The Roughnecks come to Western New York at 5-4 and are in second place in a wide-open West Division after downing Saskatchewan 17-12 last week. Veteran Dane Dobbie leads Calgary with 52 points.

KeyBank Center will be hosting Best Friends’ Night, where fans are invited to bring their “best friends” to the game. A special ticket package is available that include two tickets and two “best friends” t-shirts for fans.
