WKBW-TV (Channel 7) has announced the hiring of a multi-media journalist who shouldn’t be concerned about surviving Western New York’s wild winter weather.
Ala Errebhi arrives from KTTC-TV, the NBC affiliate in Rochester, Minn.
She was born in St. Paul and lived in Saudi Arabia and California for a decade apiece before returning to Minnesota. She graduated from California State with a degree in broadcast journalism before starting her TV news career.
“Before coming to Buffalo, Ala was working as a journalist in Minnesota, so she isn’t intimidated by our winters and she has the boots to prove it,” wrote Channel 7 news director Rob Heverling in a release. “From day one she was speaking up in our editorial meetings. She is excited to be here. You can tell she’s determined to immerse herself in Western New York.”
“Ala brings a diverse perspective to the newsroom and her enthusiasm is contagious,” wrote Channel 7 General Manager Michael Nurse in the release.
According to Channel 7, Errebhi has dual citizenship as a Tunisian and U.S. citizen, speaks fluent Arabic and has German and Korean language skills.
