William L. Putman III of Niagara Falls, who is awaiting sentencing in federal court in Pittsburgh on three gun-related felonies, was sentenced Thursday in Niagara County Court to two years in prison on a drug charge.
Putman, 33, was caught with drugs in his backpack during a November 2015 traffic stop.
He pleaded guilty Oct. 30 in Pittsburgh to conspiracy and two gun possession counts, and faces up to 25 years in prison at sentencing March 7.
A federal indictment accused him of driving to Pennsylvania six times in 2016 and 2017 to pick up 21 firearms others bought for him and paying them in cash, crack cocaine or heroin. Putman was not allowed to own guns because of five previous convictions in Niagara County between 2006 and 2014.
