Benczkowski leads slate of candidates endorsed by Cheektowaga Democrats

Supervisor Diane Benczkowski topped the slate of eight candidates endorsed by the Cheektowaga Democratic Committee this week, announced Matt Janiszewski, committee chairman.

Also receiving endorsements for re-election were: Mark Wegner for highway superintendent, and Christine Adamczyk, Linda Hammer and Jerry Kaminski for Town Board.

Rick Rusiniak, town historian and former volunteer firefighter with the Bellevue Fire District, was tapped to fill a two-year vacancy on the Town Board. Rusiniak will fill a seat vacated by Timothy Meyers, who won the race for the Erie County Legislature in District 7.

Kim Burst, former deputy tax receiver who worked for Assemblyman Paul Tokasz, was selected to replace town clerk Vickie Dankowski, who will retire.

Dave Stevens, Cheektowaga Police Department detective and 29-year police veteran, received the endorsement for town justice.
