New room honors social worker at Response to Love Center

A room named for a dedicated volunteer will open at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Response to Love Center, 130 Kosciuszko St.

The room is named for Michael Perry, a social worker who died in May 2015.

"He was the kind of person who would take children and foster them, and was the most giving person of himself toward charities," Sister Mary Johnice said. "He was also nonjudgmental."

Kim Pitillo set up a fund in her son's memory to help people in need. At Johnice's suggestion, Pitillo, along with family and friends, also prepared the room being named in his honor as an intake room, multimedia room for social workers and for use with seminars and workshops.
