Documents coming, meetings set on giant Niagara County solar project

The developers of Bear Ridge Solar, a proposed 100-megawatt solar power project in the Niagara County towns of Cambria and Pendleton, announced Monday they will file key documents with the state Department of Public Service by Friday.

Cypress Creek Renewables, a California company, also will hold public meetings Wednesday to report on the status of their plans.

The sessions at the Cambria Volunteer Fire Company, 4631 Cambria-Wilson Road, will run from 4 to 6 and 7 to 9 p.m., with formal presentations at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m.

Cypress Creek officials said in October they have enough land under lease to build the project: 750 acres in Cambria and 150 in Pendleton. This week's filing of a preliminary scoping statement will list environmental and other studies the developer must complete to win state approval.
