Beck, Heart among new shows announced for Darien Lake Amphitheatre

When Beck was announced as a headliner for the revived Rockin' at the Knox, Buffalo music fans buzzed with excitement - perhaps inspired by memories of a rousing opening set for U2 at New Era Field - selling out the show rapidly.

Now, Beck is back with another area appearance, at 6 p.m. Aug. 13 at Darien Lake Amphitheatre (9993 Allegheny Road, Darien), with more modern heavyweight Cage the Elephant also on the bill, as well as openers Spoon and Sunflower Bean. It's a packed lineup, no doubt.

Tickets, which range from $29.50 to $99.50, go on sale at noon Friday, Feb. 15 and will be available online at LiveNation.com, Ticketmaster.com or by phone at (800) 745-3000.

Kerfuffle alum Cage the Elephant, fronted by the entertaining Matt Shultz, impressed News pop music critic Jeff Miers a few years ago for its songwriting.

In other concert announcements, Heart will headline a July 26 show in Darien Lake Amphitheatre with Joan Jett & the Blackhearts. Tickets for that show go on sale at 10 a.m.  Feb. 15 at the same spots as the Beck tickets.

Individual tickets for Chris Young, the first artist on the Country Megaticket lineup for 2019, will also go on sale at 10 a.m. Feb. 15, with prices ranging from $38.50 to $88.25 through Ticketmaster, Live Nation and at (800) 745-3000. Young's show is May 24, with Chris Janson as the chief opener.
