The Erie County Clerk’s office and Mercy Hospital will team up this month to offer free blood pressure screenings at auto bureaus across the county.
This is the second time the two have combined during American Heart Month to address high blood pressure, a leading risk factor for heart disease, the No. 1 killer in the county and the U.S.
During last year’s screenings, 84 out of 220 people who were screened – 38 percent – measured in the high blood pressure range.
Screenings will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the following days and in the following locations:
Wednesday: Downtown Buffalo Auto Bureau, 170 Pearl St.
Thursday and Feb. 22: Cheektowaga Auto Bureau, Urbandale Plaza, 2122 George Urban Blvd., Depew.
Friday: Eastern Hills Auto Bureau, 4545 Transit Road, Clarence.
Feb. 20: Erie Community South Auto Bureau, 4041 Southwestern Blvd., Building 7, Orchard Park.
Feb. 21 and 27: Sheridan Plaza Auto Bureau, 2309 Eggert Road, Town of Tonawanda.
