Jamestown man faces multiple charges after arson fire

A Jamestown resident faces multiple charges after a man was seriously burned in an arson fire Friday night, Jamestown Police reported.

Danny N. Phanco, 49, was arrested at the scene of the blaze at 105 Weeks St. and charged with second-degree arson, second-degree criminal mischief and reckless endangerment. He is held without bail in the Chautauqua County Jail.

Police said that fire crews arrived at the scene about 11:30 p.m. and found the lower front half of the building fully involved in flames. A man living upstairs escaped, police said, but was seriously burned. He was treated at UPMC Chautauqua in Jamestown, then transferred to Erie County Medical Center.

Police said an investigation is continuing and additional charges are expected.
