To hear Jenna Koch talk, more people need to be prepared to prevent an overdose.
With that goal in mind, the Tonawanda Common Council President is inviting the public to a training session on the use of Narcan, an antidote to overdoses.
"We are all committed to educating those in our community on how to recognize the signs and symptoms of an opiod overdose," Koch said in a statement Saturday.
The free event will be held from 6-8 p.m. Feb 28 at the Tonawanda Senior Citizen Center at 35 Main St. Space is limited and registration, which can be done at the Erie County Health Department website, is required.
People who attend the event will receive a free Narcan kit.
The event is sponsored by Koch in partnership with the Buffalo Police and the Erie County Opiate Epidemic Task Force.
