Operators of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery announced that a week of free admission to the museum for Erie County residents will commence Feb. 16 to Feb. 23 as part of Erie County Free Week.
It's intended to express gratitude to Erie County taxpayers and elected officials for their support of museum operations, Albright-Knox Director Janne Sirén said in a statement.
“Each year, Erie County’s generous commitment supports a wide range of inspirational art classes, groundbreaking exhibitions and a Public Art Initiative, which helps us share beautiful artworks across Western New York. We are deeply grateful to Erie County for its continued support of our museum and we invite all our fellow citizens to visit us during Erie County Free Week and year-round,” Sirén said.
County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz said the once-a-year opportunity offers a chance for families, students and other residents who have never visited the historic museum to spend a day in the presence of world-class art in all its forms.
