'Cats' actors will visit Buffalo's cat cafe

Purrfect Cafe and Gallery generally doesn't let outside cats in, but on Feb. 8, they'll make an exception.

Actors from the touring production of "Cats," which is at Shea's Buffalo Theatre until Feb. 10, will cozy up with Wanda, Vex, Ashi and Homer at Buffalo's sole cat cafe.

The actors will be there from 1 to 1:30 p.m. The cafe has a 15-person limit, so if you plan to hang out with all the cats, you should book online soon.

Shortly after Purrfect opened last summer, we checked it out to see what it was like.

"Fourteen cats -- old and young -- strutted around, playing with people and on the elaborate equipment. A group of children played with the cats, cuddled them, chased them and taunted them with feathered sticks and toys. The cats were all enjoying it to varying degrees," The News wrote in August.

The cat cafe regularly hosts cat yoga classes, movie nights, tarot card readings and storybook hours.

And now, actors.

Melinda Miller reviewed "Cats" opening night and gave the show three out of four stars. "The 10-year-old sitting next to me, who in the first act started to wonder when intermission was coming, also nearly burst out of her seat when the cats came off stage and starting singing in the aisles, almost within petting distance," she wrote.
