Robert N. Brennan, the president of the Gratwick Hose Company, who retired last year from the pharmaceutical field, emphasized "fiscal responsibility" as he announced his candidacy for North Tonawanda alderman at large Wednesday.
Brennan said he is a registered member of the Independence Party but has been endorsed by the city's Democratic Committee.
He is challenging Republican incumbent Robert E. Pecoraro.
Brennan, a member of the economic development committee of the Chamber of Commerce of the Tonawandas, said he is concerned about the city's spending of reserve funds, which he said leaves the city "vulnerable to unforeseen expenses and repairs."
Brennan, a volunteer fireman for 38 years, worked in the health field for 32 years as a sales specialist and account manager for various companies.
