The U.S. Postal Service has announced it will present a photo enlargement of a "forever" stamp honoring tap dancer and actor Gregory Hines at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Buffalo Academy of Visual and Performing Arts, 450 Masten Ave.
The stamp, issued Jan. 28, is the 42nd in the Black Heritage series honoring accomplished African-Americans. Hines, noted for his unique style of tap dancing, also acted and sang on the Broadway stage, television and in film.
The presentation is part of a Black History Month celebration that will include music, singing and dancing by students at the school.
The Gregory Hines stamp and others in the Black Heritage series will be for sale at the event. A free pictorial postmark also will be offered with any stamp purchase.
