Retired detective to host book launch party for crime novel

Former Buffalo Police Cold Case detective Lissa Marie Redmond will host a book launch party for her second novel, "The Murder Book," at 7 p.m. on Feb. 8 at the Blackthorn Restaurant and Pub, 2134 Seneca St.

The public is invited, and the event will feature drinks, food and cake.

Redmond will also appear at book talks and signings at 7 p.m. on March 5 at the Brighton Place Library, 999 Brighton Road, Town of Tonawanda; 2 p.m. on March 9 at the McKinley Mall Barnes & Noble bookstore, 3701 McKinley Parkway, Hamburg; and at 7 p.m. on May 9 at the Grand Island Town Library, 1715 Bedell Road, Grand Island.

Redmond retired from police work in 2015 to become a crime novelist. She spent 22 years with the Buffalo Police, mainly investigating sex crimes and murders, including cold cases. Her first novel, "A Cold Day In Hell," was published last year by Midnight Ink Books.
