3M awarded low-cost hydropower to support expansion

3M, a Town of Tonawanda maker of cellulose sponges, will receive 350 kilowatts of low-cost hydropower to support an expansion, the New York Power Authority said.

3M plans to create at least 18 jobs and make $14 million in capital investments as part of a project that calls for new equipment and a 2,700-square-foot expansion, the Power Authority said. 3M is a current Power Authority customer, with commitments to retain 345 jobs.
