A Niagara Falls woman whose caretaker says she's been taken advantage of by strangers had her car stolen Monday night by two men claiming to be police detectives and who said they were returning her previously stolen property.
The victim told police the men came to her home and told her they would return her property, and she should meet them at the Tim Hortons on Pine Avenue and Hyde Park Boulevard, according to a police report.
She met the men sometime between 7 and 8 p.m. outside the coffee shop, and the thieves told her they needed to use her car in order to return the items. So she let them take her vehicle.
The woman's caretaker told police random members of the public have been taking advantage of the victim for months.
The vehicle is a black 2012 Acura TSX.
