A registered sex offender who didn't tell authorities he moved from Niagara Falls to Newfane in August 2017 was sentenced Tuesday to one to three years in state prison.
State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. imposed the penalty on George R. Hillman Jr., 44, who pleaded guilty to a felony count of failure to register a change of address.
Hillman joined the registry as a Level 1 offender, the least serious rating, in 2007, when he pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree rape and third-degree criminal sexual act. His victim was a girl under age 15 in Newfane in the spring of 2006.
At the time, Hillman was placed on 10 years' probation with six months in jail to start that sentence.
