Recently, I went with a group of friends for lunch at Remedy House on Rhode Island Street in Buffalo.
As I sat there I looked around and thought this would have been a fabulous idea on the corner of Forest and Elmwood avenues. This little place was in an old home decorated in a wonderful way. Basic and practical in appearance, but unique in its setting, as across the street was a bakery in an old building with nice landscaping.
This added to the adaptive reuse of these homes, buildings etc. … as well as added to the character of the neighborhood. This is what people love to see and patronize.
Imagine if this could have been done on the corner of Elmwood and Forest. Instead, tenement-style housing is the new language called condos, which lack imagination and uniqueness for the Elmwood Village.
