It's always sunny in Lewiston during WNY winter storm

While snow socked much of the Buffalo area overnight, the storm spared Lewiston.

Wednesday morning brought sun in the Niagara County village, with at most an inch of new snow on the ground.

Although a frigid 3 degrees at noon, driving through Lewiston lacked the white-knuckle excitement that whiteouts and heavy snow offered in many communities.

"It is sunny in Lewiston but very cold. We were fortunate not get the lake-effect snow and the streets and sidewalks are clear, but people should stay indoors because of the severe cold," Mayor Anne Welch said.

Village offices were closed Wednesday but Department of Public Works crews were working.
