Lewiston-Porter’s Andrew Perrault, a Section VI champion in cross-country and the 3,000-meter steeplechase, has signed to run cross-country and track and field at Canisius College, he announced on Twitter.
Perrault, who was named to the All-Western New York first team in cross-country in the fall, won the sectional Class B title in 16:55.49 and then finished 11th in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class B meet in 16:42.9 and was named second-team all-state.
On the track, he won the 3,000-meter steeplechase last spring and then finished fourth in the state meet. He also anchored a sectional champion in a state-qualifying 3,200-meter relay team. He has school records in those events and the 1,600 meters.
He has been a two-sport athlete the two fall seasons, starting at outside middle for the Lew-Port soccer team along with cross-country, after the Niagara Frontier League allowed athletes to compete in two sports concurrently. He previously was playing soccer in the fall, basketball in the winter and running track in the spring.
