The Buffalo City Mission has closed its offices in preparation for the storm, but will keep its emergency services up and running.
Administrative personnel will stay home Wednesday and Thursday. Essential staff are being asked to report and it will continue to provide food and shelter services.
The Mission is not a Code Blue warming shelter because the Men's Community Center is currently under construction, but it will not turn anyone away seeking shelter.
Forecasts are calling for as much as two feet of snow to fall on the Buffalo metro area, along with wind chills as low as minus 25.
