Due to the continuing lake-effect snowfall and extreme cold, Buffalo City Hall will be closed Wednesday, Mayor Byron W. Brown announced.
The closing was recommended by the city's Department of Public Works and the Police Department.
Only essential city employees, who have been notified to report to work are required to report for their regularly scheduled shifts.
Brown advised motorists to continue to refrain from unnecessary travel.
City officials also announced that trash and recycling pickups scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday have been canceled due to the weather.
Residents were advised to hold onto their trash and recycling for collection on their regular dates next week.
