Zippo Manufacturing Co. will acquire Northern Lights Enterprises, a 40-year-old maker of luxury candles in Wellsville.
The company manufactures for its own brand, which it sells to boutique retailers, as well as private labels, which it sells to mass marketers.
The acquisition adds to Zippo's expanding portfolio, which includes W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Co. and Ronson; both of which are based on Bradford, Penn. Case produces handcrafted knives, Ronson produces torches and disposable lighters.
Northern Lights' manufacturing operations and all employees will remain with the company in Wellsville. Zippo plans to globalize and expand the Northern Lights brand. Northern Lights was founded by Andy and Tina Glanzman who said the acquisition will allow them to "take the business to the next level and grow farther and faster."
