Sahlen Packing Co. will remain the sponsor of the sportscar race weekend at Watkins Glen under a multiyear renewal of their agreement, the track announced Monday.
Sahlen’s is marking its 150th anniversary and the announcement came 150 days from the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen on June 30. The race is among the four on the Michelin Endurance Cup.
Terms and length of the arrangement were not disclosed.
The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s return to Watkins Glen runs from June 27-30 and also features the Michelin Pilot Challenge series, Lamborghini Super Trofeo and Porsche GT3 Cup.
“This is a momentous occasion for us,” Sahlen Packing Co. owner Joe Sahlen said in a news release. “Celebrating our 150th year as a family owned and operated business is something the Sahlen family and all of our employees are very proud of. Continuing our relationship with The Glen puts our name in front of a loyal, passionate fan base and helps with brand recognition as we continue to expand our products to retailers across the country.”
The partnership began in 2003 when Sahlen’s became the sponsor of the Six Hours of the Glen race. The company also sponsors the Tailgate Zone, located between Turns 1 and 2 on the track infield, and Sahlen’s Pit Inn at Turn 11.
“Celebrating this amazing partnership with Sahlen’s during their 150th anniversary is awesome,” Watkins Glen International President Michael Printup said in a news release. “Sahlen’s proximity to our track as a Buffalo-based company is of great value to everyone involved, we appreciate Joe Sahlen and Sahlen Packing Company for being strong supporters of The Glen, racing and our fans.”
