The City of Niagara Falls is looking for an organization to open and operate a community center in the city's North End.
A request for qualifications was posted online Friday, asking prospective operators to propose a site and submit a programming plan by Feb. 28.
The document says experienced, prequalified groups will score best. The city wants to see youth-focused programming, which must include sports, and community education programs, which must include health-related offerings.
City residents voted for a community center as one of their preferred projects in a participatory budgeting process conducted last summer by the city Community Development Department. The North End is defined as the area bounded by Ninth and 15th streets and Grove and Beech avenues.
