A Lockport man was charged Monday with driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol after the vehicle he was driving struck a house in Newfane, according to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.
William Johnson, 40, was westbound on Ridge Road when the vehicle he was driving struck a tree and then crashed into a residence, causing minor damage to the structure, police said. Deputies arrived on the scene at 11:20 a.m. Both Johnson and a passenger in the vehicle were transported to Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport, where they were treated for minor injuries, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Johnson was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while impaired by drugs and other charges.
He is scheduled to appear Feb. 12 in Newfane Town Court.
