Big players in the region are also hiring and promoting new people to important roles, eager to keep their edge over their competitors. Here is a look at one up-and-comer at area banks; click here to see more.
Dale McKim III was Evans Bank's external auditor for more than 10 years, at KPMG. In 2017, Evans hired him as its chief risk officer.
Kenneth Pawlak spent 27 years in banking with M&T Bank, most recently as credit risk manager for its business banking division. He joined Evans Bank as its chief commercial banking officer in 2017.
Both are members of the senior leadership team at Hamburg-based Evans, which has taken strides toward becoming a bigger bank. By the third quarter of last year, Evans had set a record for full-year profits, with three months to go. And the bank opened a downtown branch last October, increasing its visibility.
McKim's job was a new position at Evans, reflecting the growth in the bank's complexity as it surpassed $1 billion in assets. And Pawlak succeeded John Eagleton, who left to become Steuben Trust's president.
