$47 million sale of Weinberg Campus nears approval

The parent company of the Elderwood group is paying nearly $47 million for the bulk of Amherst's Weinberg Campus, which it would rename Elderwood at Getzville, a filing with state regulators shows.

Post Acute Partners announced in 2017 that it agreed to add the Weinberg facilities at 2700 North Forest Road to its Elderwood nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

The $46.75 million price tag was revealed in an application with the State Health Department's Public Health and Health Planning Council. A council committee granted contingent approval of the sale last Thursday. The full council could vote in February.

The purchase includes the 180-bed Rosa Coplon Jewish Home and Infirmary nursing home, which would be maintained at that size. Post Acute Partners anticipates reducing staff in some areas but adding in others.
