A drunk bar patron leaving a Chippewa Street establishment got taken for a costly ride after apparently thinking a robber was offering him a cab ride.
According to a Buffalo Police report, the patron left Bada Bing Sports Bar and Grill about 2:15 a.m. Saturday and was walking south on Franklin Street when a man drove up in a white sedan and asked, "Yo, you need a ride?"
"Yeah, to the Hilton Garden Inn," said the victim, who told police he was "slightly intoxicated."
"Five bucks," said the driver.
The victim got into the front passenger seat and handed over the money for a ride to the hotel, less than half a mile away. But then the driver pulled out a 6-inch knife and pressed it against the victim's chest, the report said.
"How much money you got on your card?" the driver asked.
"Only 46 bucks," responded the victim, according to the report.
The driver drove the victim to an ATM at the Sunrise Market on William Street and had the victim withdraw $40. Both men then got back in the car, according to the report, and the driver dropped off the victim at his hotel at the Hilton Garden Inn along Lafayette Square.
Police said the driver is wanted on felony robbery charges.
