Wheatfield man who crashed stolen pickup heads to prison

A Wheatfield man was sentenced Thursday to one to three years in state prison for stealing a pickup truck last year on Oliver Street in North Tonawanda.

Todd A. Gailie Jr., 28, of Oppenheim Court, had pleaded guilty to fourth-degree grand larceny before State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr.

Gailie got into a minor crash with the stolen truck.

So after his release, he will owe restitution of $230 to the truck's owner and $4,252 to the owner's auto insurer.

Niagara County Assistant District Attorney Joel M. Grundy said Gailie was caught on foot after the Feb. 27 crash in North Tonawanda. Gailie was carrying a vodka drink at the time, Grundy said.
