The Alden Village Board voted 5-0 Thursday to build a permanent connection with the Erie County Water Authority system on Exchange Street.
However, financing for the estimated $80,000 project hasn't been determined. The board didn't vote on a proposal for short-term borrowing.
"We're talking to our financial advisor about alternatives," said Mayor Michael G. Manicki, who added that bids from contractors for the work won't arrive for a couple of months.
In a November survey, village residents voted 319-271 in favor of replacing the village's well water with county water. The new connection, however, will not completely replace the wells, but will provide a supplemental supply.
