Police say 7-Eleven clerk told tale to cover up theft

A 7-Eleven employee has been charged with falsely reporting a robbery at the store to cover up for her own theft of $130, according to a Buffalo police report.

At about 4:10 a.m. Dec. 22, Arrionna D. Lipscomb called police to the convenience store at 2275 Genesee St., near the Cheektowaga border, claiming a man with a gun stole about $70 in cash from the register.

Lipscomb, 22, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with making up the story, according to a report.

Her story included several details, including that the suspect, who was short, was wearing mechanic's overalls and had a red scarf over his face. She initially told police the man demanded the money, but she told him to retrieve the cash himself. That was when he pulled out the gun, according to her story.

Lipscomb was charged with falsely reporting an incident and petit larceny.
