A West Side man has been charged with assaulting an employee at a downtown parking lot.
Thomas Rodriguez, 27, who was arrested early Sunday morning, has been accused of threatening employees with a knife and hitting one of them in the head after an argument over payment, according to a Buffalo police report.
The incident happened shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Franklin Street, between West Chippewa and West Tupper streets. Police were told Rodriguez parked illegally in the lot, then agreed to pay $75 before the argument began, according to the report.
The victim who was struck was taken by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center. Police recovered a folding knife at the scene.
Rodriguez, of Plymouth Avenue, was charged with second-degree assault, two counts of menacing and weapons possession. He is due in Buffalo City Court on Friday for a felony hearing.
