A Jamestown man was arrested on several charges after he allegedly assaulted a female friend in the presence of a 9-year-old child Thursday, according to Jamestown Police.
Marquez J. Davis, 26, fled after the alleged attack but was located a short distance away by police, who took him into custody, police said.
Davis is alleged to have punched and choked the victim before taking her cellphone away while she was attempting to call 911 for emergency assistance, according to police, who said Davis allegedly smashed the phone on the floor, breaking it.
Davis was charged with felony third-degree criminal mischief, fourth-degree criminal mischief, third-degree assault, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal obstruction of breathing, police said.
Davis was held Thursday in Jamestown city jail, police said.
