The chairman of the Niagara Falls Republican Committee said Wednesday that Democrat Robert M. Restaino may receive the GOP endorsement for mayor.
"I want the best possible candidate for the City of Niagara Falls," said Chairman William Carroll, who confirmed that he attended Restaino's campaign kickoff event in November. "If the Democrat is the best possible candidate, so be it."
In response to a follow-up question, Carroll said Restaino is a possibility for the Republican ballot line.
Restaino, Niagara Falls Board of Education president and a former city judge, and Community Development Director Seth Piccirillo are Democrats who are running for mayor. Mayor Paul A. Dyster, a Democrat who has served three terms, has so far not announced his political plans for this year.
