A 19-year-old was shot twice in the leg Tuesday night after a robbery in Niagara Falls' DeVeaux neighborhood, police said.
The robbery happened on James Avenue, off Lewiston Road.
While detectives are still investigating, police say it appears as three robbery suspects were fleeing the home, one of the victims yelled out to a friend who just arrived in a vehicle.
The arriving friend chased the suspects and caught up to one of them, Niagara Falls Police Capt. Kelly J. Rizzo said. There was a struggle between the two and the gun went off during the struggle, though police aren't sure whether the victim was intentionally shot, Rizzo said.
The wounded man was listed in stable condition, he said.
It was not immediately clear whether the person shot was one of the robbery suspects or the arriving friend.
No further information was immediately available.
