Drone racing, anyone? Lancaster sets recreation forum to spice up programming

Lancaster recreation director Robert Giroux may be new to the top job, but already he is making history by holding the department’s first public recreation forum at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Lancaster Senior Center, 100 Oxford Ave.

Giroux, who served the Town of Lancaster Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department for 40 years, would like to see young adults ages 13 to 18 attend the session because they are the “toughest group to provide recreational activities for,” he said.

One thing is certain: Pickleball is here to stay. The town is already offering indoor winter pickleball, and will add two more courts in spring.

"It's the fastest-growing racket sport for ages 25 to 35," Giroux said. "We can’t keep the seniors off the court."
