MERRY MOMENT – Ten Lives Club, the cat rescue and adoption agency, hosts a holiday party from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in DOS on the Lake Restaurant, 3800 Hoover Road, Hamburg. TALKING POINTS – Vincent Moses, author of the new book, “Henry L. A. Jekel: Architect of Eastern Skyscrapers and the California Style, 1895-1960,” speaks about the little-known Buffalo-born architect at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the weekly IMAGINE Buffalo lunchtime lecture series in the Central Library on Lafayette Square in downtown Buffalo. The free program begins at noon with a Great Courses Video on “Thoreau at Walden and Beyond.” Moses also gives a talk at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Buffalo History Museum.

SEASONAL SCENES – Historical reenactor Denise Reichard is featured a special program, “More Than a Magi,” at the annual meeting of the Sanborn Area Historical Society at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Sanborn Fire Hall, 5811 Buffalo St., Sanborn. OPEN FOR BUSINESS – Samuel Russo, a partner in Lorraine Capital and a judge in the 43North business startup competition, speaks on “The Impact of Private Equity Firms on the Regional Economy” at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Room 120 in the Research and Information Commons at Daemen College. His talk, part of the Nancy Haberman Gacioch Entrepreneurship Lecture Series, is free and open to the public.

COMING CLEAN – The Response to Love Center on Buffalo’s East Side is collecting donations of household cleaning items to give to people in need during its annual Christmas Eve dinner. Needed are spray cleaning solutions, dish towels, paper towels, dish soap, window cleaner, bathroom cleaning items, sponges, brushes, laundry soap and bleach.
Collection boxes will be available, starting Thursday, in Buffalo at Flying Bison Brewery, 840 Seneca St.; Community Beer Works, 520 Seventh St.; and Lakeward Spirits, 65 Vandalia St. Boxes also will be set up at Hamburg Brewing, 6553 Boston State Road, Hamburg; and the NY Beer Project, 6933 S. Transit Road, Lockport. The collection will continue through Dec. 10.
