The Lipke Foundation, which awards an annual grant to competing high schools that win Outstanding Musical Production in the annual Kenny Awards competition, will double its Kenny Awards grant to $10,000 at its 2019 ceremony, Shea's Performing Arts Center announced Wednesday.
The 26th annual Kenny Awards is scheduled for May 11 at Shea's. The awards recognize and promote high school theater programs. Since its inception, the Kenny Awards has donated more than $120,000 to area high school theater programs, according to organizers.
Applications for the program will be accepted until 5 p.m. Friday.
Schools interested in applying are encouraged to do so online at sheas.org.
Ten schools from the applicant pool will be selected to participate as finalists in the program and be eligible for the Outstanding Musical Production award grant.
