Williamsville's Main Street Deli to close after parking drought

As four months of construction on Main Street in Williamsville ends, finally opening parking spots, Main Street Deli is planning to close.

The restaurant, at 5546 Main St., will stay open until the end of October, owner Christine Gerard posted to Facebook on Oct. 7.

“The construction on Main Street has been detrimental to our business and although I have done everything to try and save it, I just don’t have the means to do it any longer,” Gerard wrote.

Main Street Deli opened late last year. This June, a years-in-the-planning street and sidewalk reconstruction project eliminated street parking for months, and made it a place motorists tried to avoid.

Parking on Main Street was restored last week.

“Thank you to all our wonderful customers I’ve met in the past year,” wrote Gerard, “your smiling faces have brightened each and every day.”

Main Street Deli is Long Island love in heart of Williamsville
