Longtime Niagara Falls School District clerk to retire

Ruthel D. Dumas, who has been district clerk for the Niagara Falls School District for 38 years, will retire at the end of December.

The Board of Education voted last week to give the position to Judie Glaser, the district's community relations director, effective in January.

"Ruthel is the soul of precision. I can only hope to approximate her flawless job performance," Glaser said.

Dumas, 60, said she has decided to retire now for family reasons.

"I can have a more flexible schedule that would allow me to go and help out with my granddaughter," Dumas said. "Her name is Journey and she lives in Virginia and she has spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy. "
