Two men shot outside Niagara Falls tavern

Niagara Falls Police are investigating the Sunday morning shooting of two men outside a tavern in the 3000 block of Highland Avenue.

Michael Crumpton told police he was standing outside Max's Lounge when a black man approached him and started shooting. Witnesses told of hearing as many as four shots. Police found three spent shell casings in the street.

Crumpton was struck in the right leg and left hip, police said. The other victim, Isaac Peart, also was struck in the left leg, according to reports. Peart told police he was attending a birthday party nearby and went to Max's to get some drinks.

Both were stabilized at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, then transferred to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo with injuries that were not life-threatening.
